Daily UI Challenge #008 called for a 404 error page. I thought it would be a piece of cake, but it’s a bit harder than it looks!
Process
I started by placing a large “404” smack dab in the center of the page.
Next, I added text underneath the “404”. I played around with the fonts for a bit, but finally decided to settle on Proxima Nova. (I’m falling in love with this typeface!)
Background
I wanted an original background, so I created circles of three different sizes and randomly placed them on the page.
The circles looked boring, so I added text onto the five largest circles. (On second thought, that may have been too much. I’ll experiment with removing the text to see if the design looks cleaner.)
Buttons
I finished off the design by turning two of the smallest circles into buttons.
Trying to make it clear that the circles were buttons, I gave them a darker background color than the other circles, as well as a border.
I also added text underneath the buttons to make their function clear.
