February & March 2023 Recap

We’re a quarter of the way through 2023! March was a little rough on me in terms of productivity, but I hope April brings me back into the swing of things.

Enjoy this recap from me =)

February Code Challenge

One of the craziest things I’ve ever decided to do! I took a break for March, but announced my April Coding Challenge last week.

Below are a few examples of some of my favorite pieces from this February challenge. You can find the full list of 28 websites at https://dev.cathzchen.com/february-code-challenge-complete.

Relational Databases Certification

In March, I finally completed freeCodeCamp’s Relational Databases certification! While the topics on SQL and database schemas were mostly review for me, I learned a LOT about bash, nano, and git — tools I’ve grown to love and enjoy.

I’m currently working on the Quality Assurance Certification, and hope to finish that by the end of April.

TikTok . . . tick tock

This semester, I took a class from Santa Ana College on Social Media and Management. One of our class assignments was to create a TikTok video for a professional / business profile. I chose to make a video meme on something programmers experience often, and found that I enjoyed putting it together.

While I don’t allow myself to watch other TikTok videos, I think I will continue to post (and cross-post to Instagram Reels). For me, that allows me to take advantage of the benefits of the TikTok platform while not falling into its scrolling trap.

Bible Sleuths Update

The first issue of the Bible Sleuths magazine arrived in March!

I have been a bit busier with other things, and haven’t been able to give more attention to Bible Sleuths beyond the monthly magazine. I am hoping to get updates onto the website by summer, but the current timeline is unknown.

HaDor HaBa

The Temple Aviv Judea Young Adults Group is no longer nameless! After some discussion, we voted on the name “Next Generation” (HaDor HaBa in Hebrew). It really is an amazing group of young people, and I am super proud of all of them.

Purim Spiel

The TAJ young adults worked hard for six weeks straight to put on a shpiel for Purim! I arranged the script and organized the whole thing. It was a lot of work for a short amount of time, but everyone did an awesome job.

in conclusion

Time moves fast and life is fun. =)
